The Khoradi Thermal Power Station stands as a testament to Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) expertise, serving as the Architect’s engineers for the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) in the development of the 2 x 120 MW Thermal plants, namely Units 1 and 2.

TCE played a pivotal role, handling the entire spectrum of Basic and Detailed engineering and providing crucial procurement support for individual equipment and systems, utilising a multiple-package approach for project execution.

Commissioned in 1974, Units 1 and 2, although now decommissioned, played a historic role by introducing the adoption of a 400kV System in the country, a significant leap from the existing 220kV transmission voltage at that time.

TCE’s engineering prowess extended further as they pioneered the creation of a 400kV Transmission line from Koradi to Kalwa—an unprecedented achievement and a noteworthy contribution to the power transmission landscape in India.
