Around 1965, TCE secured the contract for offsite services and the 35 MW Captive Power Plant for the fertiliser plant being established by Shriram Fertilizers & Chemicals (DCM Group) in Kota, Rajasthan, in collaboration with Chiyoda (Japan).
This project faced a demanding timeline, as Shriram Fertilizers had committed to the Government of India to complete the plant within a record period of 18 months. During a time of stringent control, licenses, and permits, TCE navigated foreign exchange difficulties to import equipment from Japan.
Despite these challenges, the client was eager to commission the plant promptly, with top management closely monitoring its progress. Demonstrating notable professionalism, TCE not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations, successfully commissioning the power plant ahead of schedule.
The Shriram Fertilizer project marked a significant milestone for TCE. The company’s commendable performance spread through word of mouth, leading to the acquisition of additional fertiliser projects. Notable examples include Madras Fertilizers (Manali), Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (Mangalore), Southern Petrochemicals (Tuticorin), Zuari Agro (Goa), and more.
