The polyester filament yarn project initiated by Swadeshi Polytex Limited in Ghaziabad, near Delhi, marked a significant collaboration between the Jaipurias of Kanpur and Zimmer AG from Frank-furt, Germany.

Spearheaded by TCE, this venture represented TCE’s inaugural involvement in such projects. Swadeshi Polytex entrusted TCE with the responsibility of detailed engineering, procurement, and on-site supervision services. The prevailing restrictions on foreign exchange expenditures inadvertently spurred the growth of the Indian industry, compelling it to establish manufacturing capabilities adhering to global standards.

In response to these challenges, the project emphasised stringent quality control and elevated workmanship standards, leading to the meticulous selection of local suppliers. TCE and Zimmer collaborated closely throughout the process, actively pursuing indigenisation and import substitution as integral components of the project’s strategy.

Leveraging TCE’s in-depth familiarity with local manufacturers, fabricators, and suppliers, coupled with rigorous oversight from the foreign collaborator, the project successfully cultivated local re-sources for the fabrication of intricate equipment utilising imported raw materials.
